Early Morning Crash Sends Man to the Hospital

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — A serious car accident on Armory Street in Springfield sent a man to the hospital early Thursday morning.

The car crashed and flipped over shortly after 1:30 a.m. Firefighters had to use the jaws of life to get the male driver out of the car. The scene caused a shutdown of the road for about an hour. The man was taken to Baystate Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Springfield Police Captain Cheryl Clapprood told ABC40 that speed was a factor in the crash.
