Possible Bomb Scare was a False One

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) – A possible bomb threat at the Springfield Courthouse on State Street turns out to be nothing.

Reports came in around 2 on Friday afternoon that there was a potential bomb threat at the Springfield Courthouse on State Street.

According to Dennis Leger, aide to the fire commissioner, a phone call came in directing police to the possible bomb threat. Police and fire conducted a thorough search of the inside and outside of the building and found no suspicious package or materials.

During the search, the building was closed down and no one was allowed to enter. A formal evacuation never occurred.

Leger says the phone-call was a false-tip and the investigation is closed.
