Columbia Gas to Monitor Gas Levels over Coming Days

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — The next big thing in the upcoming days is going to be assessing the damage and ensuring there are no more leaks.

Columbia Gas says that they are going to be in the Worthington Street area over the next couple of days doing a wide range of tests for any possible leaks.

Sheila Doiron, spokesperson for Columbia Gas, says, “…Just wanted the residents in the area to know that one of the things that we are going to be doing over the next couple of days is we are going to be continuing to monitor for any kind of gas readings in the streets, in a several block area around the impact area.”

“We’re going to drill some holes in the street, so I don’t want anybody to see Columbia Gas crews drilling holes, thinking there is a problem. It’s merely a monitoring practice that we’re doing right now, and we’ll drill holes to see if there is any underground gas that we can detect,” Doiran adds.
