Mayor Sarno Provides Update on Friday’s Explosion

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno says that the city is now moving from a triage mode of operation to one of stabilization.

Late last night, Sarno, along with Springfield Fire Commissioner Joseph Conant, visited some of the first responders that were injured in the blast. While their injuries are described as non-life threatening, the Mayor says that several of them are suffering from “some facial burns.”

Now, Sarno says the city is beginning to assess the damage to other buildings in the area, clean-up debris, and begin demolition work on buildings that need it.

Mayor Sarno spoke with ABC40′s Dave Madsen this morning and you hear that full interview online at wggb.com.
