Heavy Fire in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) – A Springfield home was heavily damaged Sunday afternoon, leaving two families homeless.
It broke out around 4:30pm at 289 Quincy Street. Fire crews were battling some heavy flames and evacuated the structure. A mother and her seven children lived on the second floor. A second mother and her two kids were on the first. All got out safely.
Aide to the Fire Commissioner Dennis Leger says the fire is suspicious but is still under investigation.
