SHREWSBURY, Mass. (AP) — A Shrewsbury man has been ordered held without bail in the alleged beating of his 83-year-old mother.
Worcester District Attorney Joseph Early Jr. said 44-year-old Sean Connolly appeared Tuesday in Westborough District Court on charges of assault and battery. Judge Robert Calagione continued the case to Dec. 21.
The prosecutor said Paula Connolly was taken to University of Massachusetts-Memorial Hospital in Worcester Monday night with multiple injuries.
Early said Shrewsbury police went to the home the woman shared with her son after getting a report at about 10:45 p.m. that an elderly woman had been assaulted. Police arrested her son after questioning him. They said the mother had a bloody face and hands.
It is not immediately known who is representing Sean Connolly.
The case remains under investigation.
