You had to buy the film, you had a specific number of shots, and you had to wait until they came back from the film processor to see the prints unless you had a darkroom. With digital cameras, you get to see the pictures right way and you can edit them in the camera or photo software. And now with so many cell phones with cameras, the act of taking photographs has become meaningless and diluted.
