Wanted: Sara Esther Cordova

SPRINGFIELD (WGGB) – Springfield Police are looking for a 61-year-old woman named Sara Esther Cordova – but she also goes by several aliases: Nancy Robalas and Rosa Menendez.

Currently wanted on charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, Cordova has been arrested before. Three of those arrests were in 2008 for selling heroin in a school zone. The more recent charges of A&B stem from a vicious knife attack on her boyfriend.

“The 50-year-old boyfriend was out and happened to bump into his ex-wife. He began having a conversation with her.” Springfield Police Sergeant John Delaney says. “He accidentally dialed his girlfriend on his cellphone, and Ms. Cordova (the girlfriend) could hear him talking to his ex-wife during the whole conversation. The victim had no idea.”

When the victim returned home to the apartment he shared with Cordova at 364 Liberty St., he was greeted with a verbal argument which soon turned physical.

“She pulled out a knife and went to stab him.” Sgt. Delaney describes from the victim’s statement. “He put his arms up and used them in self defense.”

Suffering cuts to his arms and hands, the victim left the house and drove to a friends house nearby. There, an ambulance was called which took the victim to Baystate Medical Center.

Police say the victim later identified his attacker as Cordova and they’ve been looking for her ever since. If you know of her whereabouts, call the Springfield Police Department or text an anonymous tip to C-R-I-M-E-S.
