Police Need Help Catching Hotel TV Thief

SPRINGFIELD (WGGB) – Springfield Police are hoping the public will recognize the suspect they say stole a flat-screen TV from the Howard Johnson’s on Boston Road.

Police say it happened on Wednesday, November 28th. A man rented a room at the hotel with a female guest at the Howard Johnson; when he later checked-out – the female guest stayed behind. That’s when police believe she called the male suspect seen in the photos to assist in lifting the television set. The TV is being carried under a sheet and loaded into the suspect’s Volkswagen.

“He’s smoking a cigarette, playing it cool… He doesn’t even realize there is a camera on him.” Springfield Police Sergeant John Delaney says.

Hotel security quickly picked up on what was going on and knocked on the hotel room door. Before it opened, they heard a loud ‘thud’ which was the female guest jumping out the window to make an escape.

Although the suspect’s car and license plate is clearly visible in the surveillance photos, police are still requesting the public’s help in establishing an identity. If you know who the person is in these pictures, call the Springfield Police Department or text an anonymous tip to C-R-I-M-E-S.
