Report: Rondo Suspended 2 games by NBA for Brawl
Boston (WGGB) — Danny Ainge has reportedly told WEEI that Rajon Rondo has been suspended for two games, following a brawl in the Celtics’ 95-83 loss to the Nets, Wednesday night. Ainge told WEEI’sThe Big Show that Rondo would miss the next two games, thanks to an NBA suspension handed down, after Rondo pushed Nets forward Kris Humphries.
Rondo and Humphries got tangled up following a hard foul. Humphries got a good piece of Celtics forward Kevin Garnett, and Rondo took umbrage. Rondo shoved Humphries, Humphries shoved back, and the two, entangled in rage, fell into the stands behind the basket. Several members of both teams were involved in the fracas, and three players (Rondo, Humphries, and Gerald Wallace) were ejected.
Rondo’s 37 game streak of double-digit assist performances came to an end, due to the brawl. Rondo had just three assists at the time of the scuffle. The streak of 37 consecutive games with at least ten assists matches John Stockton for the second-longest such streak in NBA history. Magic Johnson has the record, with 46 consecutive games.
