Hot Chocolate 5K Helps Domestic Violence Victims

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WGGB) — It’s not exactly running weather, but when there’s a cup of hot chocolate waiting at the finish line sometimes that’s all the motivation you need.

The annual Hot Chocolate 5-K raises money for Safe Passage — an organization that works to help survivors of domestic violence.

Today, thousands came out to show their support and enjoy the free goodies.

“This year I got to do it with my team, and they really enjoyed it,” says participant Alexa Ribeiro.

She adds, “I think it’s pretty fun and at the end they give out free hot chocolate and free peppermint sticks.”

Today’s run raised more than $225,000 for Safe Passage.
