Thanks Chris.I am Amandas’ mother.. can assure you my daughter. did not drive.she was in the back seat and the driver was drunk and 23 yr old man.i don’t know why she and her friend were with the 23 yr old man and his 22 yr old female cousin.apparently her friend knew them and were supposed to be at a sleepover.Amanda always wore her seat belt and was told continuously to call me for a ride if anyone was ever drinking behind the wheel.But its not always the ‘cool’thing to do.My point is no matter how much you install all of this into your child, they are going to make that choice at that split second that determines their destiny.I just pray that it helps kids realize they are not invinceable and hopes it helps them to make the right choice if they are ever in this situation. There is still a long trial going on but the man is still in jail awaiting his sentence. Justice is all i have. God bless<3

Ken lynch, before go off and make a comment why don’t you find out more details first. “This is why the age should go up”. The article didn’t say who was driving. It could have been the 23 yr old or an 18 yr old. Do u want to ban guns too? Do you want to ban soft drinks over 20 oz? There is a reaction to make snap judgments in every situation. If it was the 23 yr old do you want to raise the driving age to 25? You don’t need to change a law based in the consequences of a few. Seriously!

This is sooo sad,and scares me soo badly,i have a 15yr old daughter&I tell her all the time the dangers of driving in cars w.friends.Alot of teen or young drivers try showing off or just dont have alot of expierience behind the wheel yet.My child thinks im too over protective,but being that way could save her life.My deepest sympathy goes out to this childs family,what a beautiful girl&such a shame.Very heartbreaking:’(

I live a few houses down from where the accident was. Myself and neighbors have complained numerous times about speeding on the street. People use our street like its a NASCAR track. I said its going to take someone to be killed before anything is done about it! Maybe now they will listen! Praying for the victims family.
