No Charges Filed in Deadly Northampton Cyclist Crash
December 4th, 2012
NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WGGB) – Investigators have announced that there will be no charges filed in May collision involving a car and a bicyclist.
On May 19, 18-year-old Harry Delmolino of Hadley was riding his bike in downtown Northampton when he was struck by a car near the intersection of Main Street and Pleasant Street.
Delmolino was taken to Baystate Medical Center where he died from his injuries.
Northwestern District Attorney David Sullivan says that after an extensive investigation by state and local authorities, “it was determined that the collision was an unfortunate accident that did not involve criminal negligence.”
As a result, no charges will be filed against the driver of the car.

More needs to be done in downtown NoHo to ensure the safety of pedestrians & cyclists. Slowing down the drivers who race through without care for those around them would be a good start.
Same goes for the cyclists and pedestrians. They don’t follow any road rules and assume a car can stop in time for them. Stupid goes both ways.
