RUSSELL, Mass. (WGGB) – A manufacturing facility that has been a fixture in Russell for decades has announced they are closing.
Thomas Humphrey, Texon Financial Controller, says that the Texon International plant in Russell will close on December 21.
Humphrey says that the decision was a “economic decision” and employees were notified of the closure on November 26.
Thirty-five employees will lose their jobs, and “Texon did the best they could do to make sure all the employees were taken care of with a good severance package,” Humphrey adds.
The Huntington Road facility has been in Russell since 1960 and has had several owners over the years, with Texon owning the plant for the last 10 years.
The factory made insole material for shoes for clients including Nike, Wolverine, Timberland, and other shoe manufacturers. That material, Humphrey notes, will now be made at Texon plants at Germany and China plants.

More jobs going overseas!!!
I think the railroad also still served this customer. So also one less customer for the railroad to have.
Yup, economy is getting better, for China
One more empty brick mausoleum in Russell. Another big empty not paying taxes behemoth to rot and drag down the area.
Unreal
I thought the economy was improving and that was the main reason Obama won his re-election. Obama is doing a great job with the economy
