Cyclist Killed in Collision with Truck in Boston

BOSTON (AP) — A Boston University graduate student has been killed in a collision with a tractor-trailer in Boston’s Allston neighborhood.

BU spokesman Colin Riley said 23-year-old Christopher Weigl was studying for a master’s degree in photojournalism. He grew up in Southborough and graduated from Skidmore College last year.

The accident occurred at about 8:30 a.m. Thursday near the intersection of Commonwealth Avenue and St. Paul Street. Police said the truck driver cooperated with authorities. No citations were issued.

Another BU student riding his bicycle was killed in Allston last month. Three other bicyclists have been killed on Boston streets this year.

An official with the city’s safe bicycling program said there’s been a 5 percent increase this year in bicycle incidents requiring an EMS response, ranging from minor falls to motor vehicle accidents.
