No Snow on the Slopes

CHARLEMONT, Mass (WGGB)- A team of cross country athletes were hiking up Berkshire East Mountain today instead of skiing down.  “The mountain looks empty,” says teammate Owen Bragdon.

And they surely aren’t they only ones waiting for the snow to come.  Christopher Loftus, Marketing Director at Berkshire East Ski Area, says that he would have welcomed skiiers to the resort weeks ago. Cold temperatures are the only thing standing in the way.  “As soon as we get 3-4 days of cold weather below about 26 degrees, we’ll be able to make the snow and open up,” says Loftus.

They have all upgraded equipment and 135 snow guns that are ready to go when the thermometer gives the cue.

They are optimistic that by mid- December the slopes will be ready for ski and snowboard lovers.
