Gov. Patrick Asks for Fed. Assistance for Worthington St. Blast Victims

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. (WGGB) – Mass. Governor Deval Patrick has made a request to the federal government for help those affected by the Worthington Street explosion.

The blast leveled the building that housed Score’s gentleman’s club, and send damaging debris flying across several city blocks.

The Mass. Emergency Management Agency and the City of Springfield conducted an assessment and has determined that the damage to the area exceeds the Small Business Administrations’s criteria for a disaster declaration.

Patrick is asking the SBA to issue a declaration of physical disaster for Hampden County so that term and low-interest loans may be available to affected individuals, families, and businesses.

  1. Pay your own way Springfield/Massachusetts. Why should my taxes paid for Federal Services go to a local entity that caused damage associated with human error. Why do I have to pay for local and private incompetence?
