TAUNTON, Mass. (WGGB) – A single-vehicle accident in southeastern Massachusetts has killed two people and injured four others.
Taunton police say that the vehicle, a 2001 2 door Honda Accord, slammed into a tree at 1861 Bay Street just off of Route I-495. The crash occurred at approximately 12:26 a.m. this morning after having crossed over the wrong side of the road. Firefighters on the scene had to use the Jaws of Life to extricate the driver and 5 passengers.
Authorities have not released the names of any of the victims.
Police say two passengers were pronounced dead at Morton Hospital in Taunton. The driver and three other passengers are being treated at Rhode Island Hospital. Their conditions are unknown.
The cause of this crash is under investigation by Lieutenant Paul Roderick.
