SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) — Springfield police say fog is to blame for a five-car crash that sent three people to the hospital.

The pileup happened just before 9:00 Saturday night on St. James Avenue.

Fire department officials say they had to use to use the jaws of life to rescue one of the victims.

Police haven’t released the names of the people involved in the accident. No charges have been announced.

The three people sent to the hospital all had non-life threatening injuries.
