Southwick Holiday Display Vandalized

SOUTHWICK, Mass. (WGGB) — Vandals damaged a holiday display on Granville Road.

Dick Carbonneau says he woke up Sunday to find his two giant reindeer knocked over.  The pair is about 15 feet tall.

“It’s upsetting not only for the work, I can’t put a price on it,” said Carbonneau.

Two legs on each of the reindeer were sawed off.  Carbonneau thinks it was planned.

He’s had a light display in his yard for the last 15 years.  This year there are more than 12,000 lights.  He says the two larger than life reindeer were added the last couple of years.  Each one is made using six sheets of plywood.

The display is well known in town and cars slow down as they pass by to get a look.

“You have people talking about it makes you feel good. The joy you get out of it from hearing other people get joy,” said Carbonneau.

He plans to repair at least one of the giant reindeer by the end of the week.

Southwick police are investigating.  Anyone with information can call them at 413-569-5348.
