Student Caught with Gun at Boston High School

BOSTON (AP) — A 16-year-old student at a Boston high school has been arrested after bringing a gun to school.

The school department said in a statement that the handgun brought to Jeremiah Burke High School on Monday morning was not loaded, but that the student also brought a small amount of ammunition.

The gun was found at about 9 a.m.

No one was hurt.

A schools spokesman says administrators followed appropriate procedures to ensure the safety of all students and staff in the building and the day carried on without further interruption. He did not know why the student brought the gun to school.

Parents were notified.

I brought a 22 rifle to 7th grade back in 1957. I rode my bike and had it slung over my shoulder. I walked into the school with it and put it in my locker. After school, I brought it down to the rifle to the rifle range. I also bought some 22 bullets at the town hardware store and kept them in my locker. One time the rifle club instructor was low on 22 shell’s and he bought the ones I had. I miss the 50′s.
