Stankowski Named Gatorade State Player of the Year for 2nd Straight Year
South Deerfield, MA (WGGB) — Clear out a little more room in the rafters of Goodnow Gymnasium. Frontier Regional High School senior volleyball player Cassidy Stankowski has been named the Gatorade State Player of Year for the second consecutive year.
The best player in the state of Massachusetts as a junior, Stankowski repeated the feat as a senior, while leading the Red Hawks to a third consecutive State Championship at the Division III level.
Her sophomore year (in which the Red Hawks won the first of their three straight state titles), Frontier was the best team in the entire state, beating both the Division I and Division II State Champions during the regular season, before sweeping their way through the Division III bracket.
Stankowski has committed to Central Connecticut State University, where she will play Division I volleyball.
Stankowski was an honorable mention Under Armour All-American last year, and she repeated that accomplishment this year.
A four-time All-State honoree, and a six-year Varsity player, Stankowski had the most decorated high school career in the history of Western Mass volleyball.
