Dreaming of a White Christmas?

White ChristmasSpringfield, Mass (WGGB) Are you dreaming of a white Christmas? Based on data between 1981 and 2010 Springfield has a 50 percent chance of seeing at least an inch of snow on the ground come Christmas morning. The Berkshires have close to a 70 percent chance while coastal communities, like Boston have about a 25 percent chance of seeing a white Christmas.

The National Climatic Data Center updated a map that shows the climatological probabilities of a white Christmas across the Nation. The Probability of a White Christmas map, now based on the most recent 1981–2010 Climate Normals, shows the climatological probability (in percent) that a snow depth of at least 1 inch will be observed on December 25. The highest probabilities are in northern and mountainous areas of the country.
