SPRINGFIELD (WGGB) - Columbia Gas of Massachusetts is warning people in the area that someone has been going around claiming to be a worker for the company so people will let them inside.

Be aware that all Columbia Gas workers carry an ID and drive marked vehicles.  If someone from Columbia Gas comes knocking on your door the company says you should ask to see their ID and also call their customer service line to verify that work needs to be done.

You’re also asked to report suspicious activity to the police and to call Columbia Gas to report any incidents with unidentified workers or impostors.
