Pedestrian in Serious Condition After Being Struck in Springfield

photo (5)Springfield, Mass. (WGGB) — A man is in serious condition this evening after being struck on State Street in Springfield.

That’s according to Springfield Police Captain Cheryl Clapprood who says he is “hanging on by a thread.”

Police report the individual went through the windshield of a vehicle.  They received the call at 6:21 p.m.

The victim has been since transported to Baystate Medical Center.

Police say the driver did stop at the scene and they are investigating.

An accident reconstruction team has been called in as well.

The accident happened at 1250 State Street in the area of the MassMutual Center.

No word yet on if the driver will face any charges.
