Westover Airmen Visit Veterans in Holyoke

HOLYOKE, Mass (WGGB)- Members of Westover’s 439th Airlift Wing delivered some holiday spirit to Holyoke’s Soldiers Home today.

The Airmen and women brought cookies and other treats for everyone to enjoy while the different generations of military men and women shared stories and spent time together.

They all share a special bond. “Even though they may be 70 years difference in ages, they have the same experiences. It’s nice for them to be able to sit down and talk about experiences,” said Steven Vautrain, Col. Commander 439th Airlift Wing.

The Veterans and Westover volunteers all sang Christmas Carols today and had a visit with Santa.

Today marked the 5th annual holiday celebration and the Airmen and women from Westover plan to keep the tradition going for many years to come.
