Wanted: Kashaun Raiford

kashaunraifordSPRINGFIELD (WGGB) – Kashaun Raiford is only 20 years old and already accused of a violent armed robbery that injured two victims; one was a baby. Police say it happened at 23 Maple Street on December 5th around 5pm. A 23-year-old male was babysitting a friend’s child who was 1-year-old. Police say there was an unexpected knock at the door.

“When he opened the door there were two guys with masks. One had a gun in his belt.” Springfield Police Sergeant John Delaney says. “They said we want your XBox, we want  your computers and we want your weed.”

When the victim explained he didn’t know what they were talking about, the two men became aggressive and violent; forcing their way into the apartment. They were unaware the baby was directly behind the door.

“As they pushed the door open the little 1-year-old was right in the way and was smacked to the floor.” Sgt. Delaney explains. “The poor kid had a nasty bruise on his face. He’s okay though.”

The other victim, the babysitter, was pistol-whipped by one of the suspects. Police say he was hit 3 times in the face. While this was happening, the other suspect was ransacking the house, taking the electronics.

Police say the two robbers exited the building – when they did, one of the suspects removed his mask outside of the doorway. The victim, looking through the window, recognized the suspect as 20-year-old Kashaun Raiford. The victim also told police that Raiford is the owner of the apartment’s cousin.

Police say Raiford is probably still in Springfield and most likely a transient. They say he is dangerous and armed. If you know where Raiford is hiding, text an anonymous tip to C-R-I-M-E-S or contact the Springfield Police.
