Death of East Longmeadow Man in Penn. Ruled Accidental

EAST LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WGGB) – Authorities have released the results of an autopsy of an East Longmeadow man who was reported missing then found dead in Pennsylvania.

The Delaware County Medical Examiner’s office says that 48-year-old Frank Basile drowned in the Delaware River, and that a head injury was a condition that contributed to his death.

The death has been ruled an accident, according to the medical examiner’s office.

East Longmeadow Police Sgt. Dennis Sheehan says that Basile had traveled to Philadelphia for business when he was reported missing.

Sheehan says that Basile was to fly home on Friday, December 21, but he never returned to East Longmeadow. The Delaware County Daily Times reports that police say Basile’s flight home was canceled, and he was to spend the night at the Holiday Inn in Tinicum, Penn.

Sheehan says that Basile’s family couldn’t reach him on Saturday, after he failed to return home, and that’s when East Longmeadow Police were contacted to help try and find him.

Basile’s body was found Sunday along the banks of the Delaware River.
