Amherst Farmer Seeks Christmas Trees for Her Goats

AMHERST, Mass. (WGGB) — With Christmas over, you may be thinking about what to do with your tree – and we have a new option for you.

Give it to the goats!

Hope Crolius, owner of The Goat Girls brush clearing service, says she’s happy to take your tree off your hands. She accepts most varieties of Christmas trees, as long as they don’t have tinsel.

The trees, in fact, are great for the goats.

“These are brush clearing goats that go all over the Amherst area and even out towards the Boston area. For five months a year, they don’t have any brush to clear. With people bringing the Christmas trees here, it keeps our brush clearing heard in shape, they’re not just eating grain and hay,” Crolius says.

The needles on the trees are high in nutrients and help to ward off parasites.
