Homes along Mass. North Shore on Brink of Falling into Ocean
December 28th, 2012
(ABC) — Several houses are on the brink of falling into the ocean on fragile Plum Island.
The recent storm with pounding waves is wreaking havoc on the island homes and undermining the foundations.
Crews were out on Plum Island all night monitoring the situation. Utilities to the homes most at risk have been shut off.
The building inspector says the damage to the homes, much of it done before Thursday’s storm, is more extensive than it looks.
At least two of those houses are so unstable that homeowners can’t retrieve their belongings.

Such a shame. Went there every summer. Beautiful place.
So sad
What a beautiful place.
Isn’t erosion a bummer?
Ya know, when you build on sand, it’s likely your house won’t be there forever
Who knew
Gees those poor people.
