Bus Driver Charged After Conn. Crash

school bus topVERNON, Conn. (AP) — A school bus driver has been charged after a crash in Vernon eight months ago that left 13 students with minor injuries.

Police say 34-year-old Stacey Beaudry is free on $50,000 bail after turning herself in Dec. 23. She faces charges including 29 counts of risk of injury to a minor and reckless endangerment.

According to the arrest warrant, students saw Beaudry nodding off just before the April crash. Police say Beaudry tested positive for benzodiazepines, opiates and trace amounts of alcohol after the crash. But they say a later blood test found no drugs and there’s no definitive way to prove she was impaired.

Police say Beaudry told them she took pills that morning for facial pain and nausea.

A message was left Friday at a listing for Beaudry.
