Metro North Train Hits Car in Redding, Killing One Person

REDDING, Conn. (AP) — Authorities say a Metro North train collided with a car on the Danbury line, killing one person and injuring three others.

Metro North spokesman Sam Zambuto says the train struck the car Sunday afternoon in Redding. There were no passengers on the train.

Zambuto says the car was traveling south over the track when it was hit. The collision remains under investigation.

Zambuto says all four people in the car were taken to Danbury Hospital, where one was pronounced dead. He says the other three were being treated for undisclosed injuries. No identities were released.

There were no reported injuries to the train crew.

Train service on the Danbury line has been suspended. Bus service will ferry passengers between Danbury and South Norwalk.
