HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Connecticut Attorney General George Jepson says he sympathizes with families affected by the Newtown school shootings, but the state isn’t liable for the harm inflicted.
Jepson responded Monday to a New Haven attorney’s request last week to the state Claims Commissioner to sue Connecticut for $100 million on behalf of a 6-year-old survivor.
Jepson said families and children affected “deserve a thoughtful and deliberate examination” of the tragedy and appropriate public policy responses. But he said the Claims Commissioner’s office isn’t the appropriate venue.
Attorney Irving Pinksy says his request is about school safety. He said his client sustained “emotional and psychological trauma and injury” on Dec. 14 after gunman Adam Lanza forced his way into Sandy Hook Elementary School. Lanza killed 20 children and six adults, then killed himself. He also killed his mother at home.

Then throw out that stupid 100 million law suit that leach lawyer has submitted.
While I can’t even begin to imagine what the survivors may have seen and heard, the lawsuit seems extreme. There is no way the state could have foreseen Adam Lanza commiting this horrendous act, and therefore can’t be held liable, in my opinion.
Those parents should be ashamed of themselves, and must be, because they didnt put their names on the law suit! There are 20 other sets of parents who would give anything to have their child back! This is so disgusting and evil display of pure greed!!!! A traumatized child alive is better than a dead one!!!!
….if i may add, if the law suit is based on , the state/school should have forseen this tragic event. Then by all means so should have the family filing this BOGUS lawsuit!!!!!!!…in my opinion.
Somewhere, there a crowd of lawyers crying in their beer.
Gordon, how exactly could the state have forseen that this was going to happen??????
thank you, voice of reason…..
I agree the lawsuit is stupid, but since the alleged perpetrator is dead, it will likely be the only chance to get some facts.
Good to see greed will not get it’s way on this one. Their child survived, one would think they would be grateful for that.
No….they couldnt have foreseen this happening. I’am all for throwing this lawsuit as far down the toilet as possible. What I’am saying is ..if the family that filed this suit, claims the state should have foresen this happening Then in all reality the family that filed the suit, knowingly put their young child in harms way, because the family should have also forsaw it to happen too….their basis for the suit is soooo warped!
Ok I understand now what you meant
