SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — Police are investigating a motor vehicle crash on Plumtree Road that has left one man in critical condition, and another man and woman in serious condition.
That’s according to Springfield Police Captain, Cheryl Clapprood who told us the call came in at 7:35 p.m. for an accident at 1168 Plumtree Road involving 2 motor vehicles.
Clapprood says a vehicle carrying a male and female in their 20′s crashed into another vehicle with a male driver who is also in his 20′s.
Two of the individuals had to be removed from their vehicle by the Springfield Fire Department using the Jaws of Life.
The male driver has been taken to Baystate Medical Center and Clapprood says he is in critical condition.
She also reports that the man and woman in the other vehicle were taken to the same hospital and are in serious condition.
Earlier our crew on scene reported seeing a lot of glass all around on the ground.
The Springfield Police Department continues to investigate this incident.
The names of those involved have not been released at this time.
Clapprood says that black ice may have played a factor in this crash, but that no official cause has been determined yet.

Really? You find this funny? I had to go around that accident, I live off Plumtree, the road had a lot of black ice, and I don’t really see how people getting hurt is amusing,…. Just saying…

Agreed, Young drivers, New Years Eve, Black Ice, Dark Out, Accidents happen, Alcohol may or may not have been a factor. How did turn into a Marijuana debate?
The road was extremely slippery from the black ice on that corner by the Golf course.
Hope they recover quickly.

I wish when an accident happens, if you can’t state who the people are, could you at least inform us what type of vehicles involved? That way I can rule out people I know. Just a thought. I bet it was black ice, praying for the ones involved.
That’s the dumdest thing legalized pot wouldn’t have prevented this accident and it serous there’s one person in critical condition and two in serious they don’t write that just to take up space………….
ok people who smoke pot tend to stay home and play video games spend time on face book read books dont get in cars very often although yes some do but pot also doesnt impair you as much as alcohol but i still dont recomend driving on it but if pot was legal an alcohol was prohibited their would be a lot less accidents and wether its serious or not i dont doubt alcohol was involed or maybe another senior citizen who might drive through a store -
