2012 Warmest Year on Record

Weather-Warm Springfield, Mass (WGGB) If you thought 2012 was rather warm, you’re right! According to the local branch of The National Weather Service, located in Taunton, Massachusetts preliminary data indicate 2012 to be the warmest year since records have been kept. Boston, Worcester and Hartford saw their warmest year on record and Providence saw its second warmest.

It was a mild winter and spring with slightly above normal temperatures for the summer and fall. December was on the mild as well. These same locations saw below normal precipitation for the year but not record breaking.

 

Here are the numbers:

Boston: Average temperature: 54.2 (+2.8) Since 1872

Worcester: Average temperature: 51.2 (+3.4) Since 1892

Hartford:  (Bradley) Average temperature 53.7 (+3.2) Since 1905
