Northampton Avenue Fire Intentionally Set

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) – Fire investigators have determined that a December 24 fire was intentionally set.
The fire started in the basement of a two family home at 185-187 Northampton Avenue around 1:15 p.m. Monday, December 24.
Dennis Leger, executive aide to Springfield’s fire commissioner, says that the department’s arson and bomb squad was “a set fire.”
Nine people, including five children, were displaced by the blaze. No injuries were reported.
The house suffered about $100,000 in damage.
The fire remains under investigation.
