It is not unusual for the temperatures to fall below zero this time of the yeat, but when it happens people do tend to take notice. The low dropped to 6 below zero over at Westover Air Reserve Base and then just barely pushed back into the middel 20′s by this afternoon despite some early January sunshine. The old record low for January 3rd was 10 below back in 1997. We can expect things to stay quiet and dry through the weekend before the overall pattern begins to change next week. With moderating temperatures back into the 40′s by Tuesday, we can expect perhaps a bit of wet weather later Wednesday before drying off again late in the week.
