Pedestrian Struck in Springfield B 1 04 13SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) —  A man is in the hospital this evening after being struck in Springfield on Oakland and Shamrock Streets.

The accident happened just before 6:00 p.m. and police say the man who was taken to Baystate Medical Center is in serious condition.

Springfield Police Captain Cheryl Clapprood, told ABC40 News, “The man was wearing dark clothing and it appears the man may have just popped out in front of the driver.”

Clapprood says his injuries are not life-threatening.

The vehicle described by our crew on scene is a dark blue Nissan sedan and debris can be seen all over the road.

The driver, a woman, has not been cited as of yet according to police who are still investigating the situation.

  1. Not surprised! Can’t count how many times people just walk out in the road in front of me in any given day. Sidewalks are there for a reason. I thank my husband everyday for always making sure my car has good breaks,tires & a clean windshield!
