Six of Springfield’s Finest Retire from the Force

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — A celebration was held Friday to honor six members of the Springfield Police Department who are retiring after decades of service to the city.

Friday morning, members of the Springfield Police Department came together to honor their colleagues who each have over 25 years of experience keeping the streets of the City of Homes safe.

While they may be excited to begin the next chapter of their lives, those retiring reflected on what they will miss about coming to work.

“The guys, you know just the guys…Tony Patito. Just the laughs, we laugh everyday,” says Officer Andrew McQuade, who served on the force for 33 years.

“I know I’m leaving this place in good hands when I do leave. Just like I say, look around you. I mean these people are absolutely fantastic,” says 34-year veteran Lt. John Lynch.

Among those retiring are:

  • Lt. John Lynch
  • Sgt. Michael Perry
  • Ofc. Nathaniel Wilson
  • Ofc. Brian Mulvagh
  • Ofc. Andrew McQuade
  • Ofc. Doris Chapman
