Two Inmates Walk Away from Conn. Correctional Facility

NIANTIC, Conn. (WGGB) — A search is underway for two escaped inmates.

The Connecticut Department of Corrections is looking for two female inmates who walked away from the York Correctional Institution in Niantic Saturday night.

According to a news release, Melissa Riley and Jessica Rivera did not return to their hall around 8:15 p.m. Saturday.

Riley is serving a three year sentence for possession of narcotics and Rivera is serving a four year sentence for a controlling charge of conspiracy.

The escape is considered a walk away because the two were on the minimum security side of the correctional facility, according to the Conn. DOC.

Anyone who may have seen these two inmates is urged to call their local police department.
