Warren sworn in a 2nd time as Mass. US senator

Elizabeth WarrenROXBURY, Mass. (AP) — Democrat Elizabeth Warren has been sworn in a second time as Massachusetts’ junior U.S. senator.

Warren was officially sworn in in Washington on Thursday, but took the oath again Saturday at Roxbury Community College because she wanted to thank supporters who could not make the trip to D.C.

In a brief speech, she acknowledged the recent acrimony in the Senate over the so-called fiscal cliff, and said she will support cuts but will start with big agriculture and big oil not Social Security and Medicare.

Guests and speakers at the ceremony included Gov. Deval Patrick, Lt. Gov. Tim Murray, U.S. Sen. John Kerry, and retired Congressman Barney Frank.

Warren defeated Republican incumbent Scott Brown in November.
