ABC40 Honor Roll – Students Highlight “Wood for Haiti”

Springfield, Mass (WGGB)- On January 12, 2010 Haiti was struck by a powerful earthquake. The damage was massive and the country is still trying to pick up the pieces. So a group of local students wanted to pitch in and help out.

Agawam High and East Longmeadow High joined forces last spring to bring “Wood for Haiti” to the forefront. Through a series of fund-raising events the kids raised $5,000 dollars.

The money went to build a 800 square foot home for a family in Haiti. The house was built as a prototype in Missoula, Montana and was shipped to Haiti in October.
