LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WGGB) — The Longmeadow Fire Department getting a late holiday gift Wednesday.
It’s a nearly $73,000 grant, with 96 percent of it being funded by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
The town is chipping in the rest.
“The grant is going to be used to buy a variety of different fire hoses, nozzles, and appliances, all designed around doing more work with fewer firefighters,” says Longmeadow Fire Chief Eric Madison.
Chief Madison says the grant will greatly help his department meet the needs of the modern day world.
