WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) – Leaders at the area’s largest fairgrounds say that community will learn more Friday about any possible casino plans.
Late Wednesday, the Eastern States Exposition said that they will announce “the results of its recent casino exploration” at a luncheon event Friday.
In December, Eastern States President and CEO Eugene Cassidy said that his group was exploring the idea of “citing a regional resort entertainment destination casino on our grounds.”
Reports indicate that Hard Rock International is interested in building a casino at the West Springfield fairgrounds.
While acknowledging the continued desire to build a property in Massachusetts, Hard Rock has had no comment on the West Springfield reports.
The deadline to file casino with the state’s gaming commission is next Tuesday, January 15.
