Homeschool Students hit the Slopes!

The slopes at Otis Ridge Ski Area were packed full of students today. The facility offers a 6 week program for children who are homeschooled.
Students registered in the fall and they come once a week during this winter season on Thursdays. This is the 10th year of the program and this year about 180 students are participating.

Most students begin the day with a one hour lesson. “There are a bunch of big hills and its really good learning!” says on student, Sammy Maver.

Just as important as the physical education.. this allows for kids who aren’t always surrounded by their peers to get a full social experience.

Sammy’s sister, Elliana told us how she has met many friends here, “Savanah, Zack, Colleen.. there’s a lot of people!” says Elliana.

“It was a great chance to be outside, and learn how to ski, its reasonable, people are friendly here.. and its fun!” adds mother, Hillary Maver.

The kids are allowed to stay all day and take rests in the lodge when needed.

They are on week 2 of the program and they have 6 more weeks to go.
