A Thousand Lose Power in Springfield

Power OutageSPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — More than one thousand customers lost power in Springfield Friday night.

A representative from Northeast Utilities (which owns the Western Mass. Electric Co.) told ABC40 that an equipment failure in the downtown area caused the outage at around 11:30 p.m. leaving families and businesses in the dark. The initial outage of 1,500 customers was quickly resolved and by 2:00 a.m. power was restored to everyone except 15 customers. Power was fully restored by 5:00 a.m. Saturday morning.
