Fire Tears Through McDonald’s in Holyoke

McDonald's FireHOLYOKE, Mass. (WGGB) — A McDonalds restaurant is closed indefinitely after a fire Saturday morning in Holyoke.

The call came in around 7:40 am for a fire alarm at the McDonalds restaurant located at 285 Maple Street.

Firefighters tell ABC40 that the situation started as a small kitchen fire that quickly spread through the ventilation system. When the employees couldn’t put the flames out, the 7 workers and patrons that were in the building evacuated.

According to Lt. Thomas Paquin of the Holyoke Fire Department, “Employees did a good job of evacuating customers and employees to prevent any injuries”.

No one was injured in the fire.

There was extensive damage to the building, especially the roof. The business will be closed until further notice.
