Unfortunately, dogs down south don’t have it so easy.
The animal shelters in Montgomery County, Texas are overrun with dogs — just too many to be adopted.
But today, nine very lucky pups arrived in Springfield after a long trip up from the Lone Star State.
The dogs aren’t available for adoption just yet, but if you see one you like, you better act fast.
“As soon as the Dixies are on the adoption floor, they typically go home within a matter of a couple of days,” says Candy Lash of the Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Society. “So, we’ll have Dixies here in Springfield in our adoption center and also at our Leverett adoption center, in addition to the wonderful local dogs that we have available for adoption, too.”
The dogs are available for adoption starting Wednesday morning.
There’s a $50 surcharge for adopting a Dixie Dog, but all of that money goes back to southern shelters to help them with their spay/neuter efforts.
