RICHMOND, R.I. (AP) — Rhode Island State Police say a Massachusetts man arrested on suspicion of drunken driving registered a blood alcohol level of 4½ times the legal limit.
Col. Steven G. O’Donnell says an off-duty Connecticut state trooper called 911 on Saturday night to report a possible drunken driver on a Richmond highway. Troopers stopped the vehicle and arrested 43-year-old Thomas J. Eaton, of South Attleboro, on charges of DUI and driving on a suspended license.
Police gave Eaton two breath tests. They say the first reading was 0.362 percent, and the second came back as 0.356 percent.
The legal limit for driving is 0.08 percent.
Police say Eaton was also arrested on DUI charges in 2005 and 2008.
O’Donnell says Eaton was arraigned and is being held at the Department of Corrections.

That’s a little high
No pun intended, I’m sure Scott. In fact there is no way a normal man could be alive with that BAC. Measurement must be faulty.
thats only nine beers why would that make the news i get 30 packs when i get a paid vacation i wont drive though
Breath test, mmm-hmm. Must have been misadministered or a badly calibrated machine. In this case the man should have been rushed to a hospital and a more accurate blood test run.
How the hell was he still standing? Let alone driving!
i think they should raise it to .18 that be fair…but .362 ya thats to drunk to drive
just couple to many . .35 wonder how he could even drive test is way off.
Did he get the high score? I’m amazed he was still conscious!
Those breath machines are not accurate. If it was that high he should have been rushed to the hospital.
Neal a career alcoholic cam have a BAC that hi and still somewhat function seen it many times.
He would be unconscious at .300- .400 He would stop breathing .450 thats wrong

That’s not true people who have abused alcohol for many many many many years can have BAC’s that high and still function. Do agree should of been brought to hospital though.
Natasha like it says MANY people would be unconscious not all. This person has probably abused alcohol for a long time.
^* can
How is he still alive ???
How is he still alive ???
Dead Man Walking.
3.62 seems pretty dam high.
Me being him I would fight that charge there’s no way it could be that high he would passed out way before that level
Let Jesus Take The wheel
Cops made it that high. They have methods to adjust the machine.
I think at that level a blood test should have been taken I still think that man should have been out like a light unless he abused alcohol then it wouldnt matter
ttose facts are way off…it depends how much of a drinker you are…your wt. ect.. back 20 plus years ago i blue a 2.6 i was drunk as hell and got a dui…no passing out remember the hole thing…im sure 362 is right
George u ha be no clue what your talking about
All of you are misinformed, should check the facts before commenting. There has been plenty of drunks that blew in the mid .700′s and survived no problem!
