Remembering Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in Springfield

MLK(SPRINGFIELD, Mass.) (WGGB)–The community remembered Dr. Martin Luther King Junior today during a ceremony at Springfield City Hall.

The event was sponsored by the Springfield chapter of the NAACP.

School children as well as elected officials were on hand to talk about the legacy of the slain civil rights leader.

In Springfield, Friday was proclaimed Dr. Martin Luther King day,”Peace should always be in our heart, when we look at some of the social ills that have decimated our community we need to remember the life and times of Dr. King and remember we must always struggle and work hard to achieve any and all of our goals,” says Darryl Moss, Springfield mayoral Aide.

The ceremony also included the installation of officers of the local chapter of the NAACP.

Rev. Talbert Swan was re-elected president.
